[bukan] cerita cinta :: bagian dua ::

cerita ini lanjutan dari tulisan yang judulnya

jadi buat yang udah baca sebelumnya . . . ini dia kelanjutannya . . .

Ternyata . . . . selain orangnya baek dia lumayan good looking dengan sepasang mata hijau yang bagus banget kaya boneka (hehehe... kesannya koq jadi gak gagah), hidungnya juga  mancung kaya patung Yunani.
Badannya sih gak terlalu tinggi tapi kenceng berotot karena dia suka maen sepak bole. Tinggi badannya sekitar 6 kaki (pas gw nanya ternyata 'cuman' 177 cm, tapi teteup aja berasa tinggi soalnya gw mungil seperti Cleopatra... :-)

It was indeed a breathtaking place.

Berkesan banget buat gw malem itu, karena multiple combined factors;
cuacanya pas lagi bagus (walau malem hari tapi gak terlalu dingin), pemandangannya indah, temen jalannya juga menyenangkan, dan pembicaraannya juga menarik.

Kebanyakan orang-orang yang gw temui sepanjang perjalanan selalu menarik, in a way mereka enak diajak ngobrol (kecuali 1 cowo Australi yang gw kenal selama di Stokholm.

Ow yah, he was indeed preparing a dinner for me the night after.

M nanya apakah mau nyoba masakan dia (lagian gw gak pernah nolak kalau ada cowo yang nawarin untuk masak) lalu dia bikin pasta pake anchovy, yang ternyata enakkk banget!

Besokannya gw gantian nyoba bikin nasi goreng tapi gagal. Hiks.

Tapi the trip must go on, even for me it's so natural to say goodbye these days . . . unfortunately it always harder when you get along with someone you just met.

In short words, I stayed here and there in different places (or countries) for 2 months.

For he's been really nice to me and he has cured my heart.
Akhirnya gw beliin dia novel The Alchemist karangan Paulo Coelho (dalam bahasa Italia, tentunya).

Life has take me unexpectedly to places I have never imagined before.
I might never know will I ever see him again in the future.
But even for a short moment, he has been a blessing to my life
.

Grazie mille.

International (Sign) Language

Languages really do catch my interest, for so long.

Indonesian is my mother tongue but I've learned English since I was young (approx. 10-11 years old). So it's been ages English has been my second language, but still I found out that I am not as good as native speakers (of course). I would rate my English fluency something between intermediate level to advance - but then, as long as I survive with my language capability (know how to order food, find direction, even in my case, doing a literature review) I know it's not a problem whether my degree of fluency is advance or not.

HungarianHungarian:: definitely not the easiest one

Just couple of years ago, I also interested in Deutsch (German) and Français (French).
I took a private lesson, and just when I was about to master (well, master my basic lesson- that's what I mean :) I had to leave to Europe for my master program.

But then I found out that my Deutsch was actually really crap in practice, because I couldn't understand what these Germans people were saying. My Français was a bit (slightly a bit) better cause I could understand a bit- at least I got the important point of conversation- but most of the times I kept using English instead of 'parlez Français' (when I was in French speaking area).

It's so lame... I think it's all just the matter of practice and confidence of making mistakes :-)
I'm sure if I settle longer in France or French speaking regions, I'd definitely enhance my Français competency :-)

I also learned a bit of phasa Thai when I was in Thailand (for short time), but every Thai people that I met told me that I had the right accent. So it was really encouraging :-)

Also a bit of Dutch when I was in Netherlands (I was there cumulatively for almost 5 months). I didn't really learn it the way I learned Deutsch or Français. My Dutch language lesson was basically because I hang around with friends and colleagues (and people around me in public spaces :-) who speak Dutch. But I came to conclusion that in Netherlands, almost all the people that I met could speak English very well, so I didn't have to learn Dutch at all :-)

Danish, even though I stayed in Denmark for more than 6 months- is something that I gave up to master. I know how to say basic things e.g. salutations, thanks, sorry, sale/discount, but that's all.
For me it's a bit frustrated to learn, for it pronunciation is tricky - and did not sound as beautiful as French or Italiano. Sorry Danes, but this is the fact from a foreigner.

DanishDanish:: not very encouraging either

Then I also love Itali. Mi amore Italia :-)
And Italiano is a very beautiful language, they also have a lot of meanings in sentences.
For example saying thanks in Italian is 'Grazie' (just like 'Merci' in Français) it has more meaning than just 'thanks' - it's more like 'grace' or 'mercy'. Showing more feelings of compassion and thankful. I just love it.
Not to mention the rhyme when people talked, or even argued about something.
And how they categorize feminine and masculine words/ nouns (similar like French), based on, what?
Anyway, this is the language I'd like to learn more in the future.

ItalianoItaliano:: the language of love!

Sorry it took so long to come to the point, that International Sign Language is totally almost left out in my to-do-list.
I had this motivation to learn from few years back then, it keeps coming on strong nowadays.
Then I found out that I could actually learned it by myself (thanks to google). They put so many videos about it in webs. So I'm going there now.

We'll see how much I'm getting serious about this in the future.

Ciao ciao!

Italian stories (1) :: Roma

Italia, I've been captivated by this territory for so long.

Last year I managed to visit Bologna and Venezia for the first time, it was beautiful places but at the same time very touristic.
I guess I felt the same when I was visiting Roma, which I could say probably the most touristic places in the whole Europe (or come second after Paris).

In general, I already fell in love with Italy, for several reasons.
Italian people are very warm (in my opinion) compare to north European of course (and I was staying in Denmark for a long time, so my definition of 'warm people' probably has a huge bias).

I remember the first time I visit Italy in 2010, I was arrived in Bologna airport.

At that moment, something went wrong with my cell phone so my SIM card was blocked!
I could not contacted my friend with my cell phone, so I tried to change my money with coins.

Unluckily, not every Italian understands English! Yes, it was really an effort just to exchange paper money for coins from people. I was a bit panic and even asking the information center was not very helpful.

In the end, I managed to get coins to make a call with public phone (with only Italian instruction) because these young Italians couples who understood English and even gave me 50 cents, for free. Sweet.

Anyway, so this is my second visit to Italy, but my first visit to Rome. And it was July, high season for the tourist. I was traveling alone and most of the times I felt I was trapped between these English-speaking tourists from the States, or UK.

Strange, I didn't feel like traveling in Italy at all.

People around me speak with obnoxious American/Bristish accents.
Hmmmm.... So that's the story how I developed resistance towards US/Brit accents (or the people, because then I could hear their pointless conversations accidentally).

Back to the reason why I love Italia, not just the people. But also the foods. I love pasta and pasta sauce and gellato and tiramisu (I love all the Italian desserts besides Tiramisu).

And the weather! It was a bit too hot even for a tropical girl like me, in the mid of July. I wish I could revisit Rome later during autumn or spring to experience more convenient weather.

Rome is on my top wish of travel lists, since I love the story of Roman history when I was young. When I was a kid, I was basically raised by comic books and one of them was Asterix.

I learned that Roman history conquered many places in Europe in the past, and Giulius Cesare as one of the big famous (or infamous) conquerors during that golden period of Roman emporium.

il Colloseoil Colosseo Amphiteatre :: built in ca. 70-80 AD

To actually visit this historical places where Colloseum, tombs, statues, ruins from hundreds, even thousands years ago felt like a dream come true for me!
It was half unreal, and half realisation from a pilgrim like me :)

It was too short to visit for 4 days actually, I actually missed Museo di Vaticano (because I didn't want to wasted time queue for 5-7 hours to get inside the Sistine Chapel- and will spend only couple of seconds only to see the ceiling painted by Michaelangelo Buonarotti.)

Not that I don't like works of art from this Italian maestro, but simply in the name of anti-hegemony I refused to give more money to Vatican.
All my Italian friends have warned me that Vatican has loads of money but still steal from tourists, in the name of religion or historical arts.

Shame.

BUT, I could say that I was happy enough to be around the city and surrounding areas, even though I missed the museum.
It was trully historical places all over the cities.

My host, an Italian man originally from Bari but has worked in Roma for years, told me that recently the government has stopped to dig a place to work on a new metro line.
Just because everytime they dig they found a new archeological sites.
Just as awesome as that.

My tips how to get around Roma is,
1. Bring a bottle for water (water could be get freely from the fountains almost everywhere).
2. Be careful of your belongings, especially when taking the public transport (metro). There are many pickpockets, don't look too 'flashy'.

3. Speak a bit of Italians (with the right accent!) it's so annoying when American tourist saying 'Grazie' and pronounce the 'z' wrongly !
4. It's so easily to get lost in this city, even with the map in your hands. Don't be shy to ask people. And if a guy asked you out for a coffee instead of giving the right direction, just lie to him and say you already have Italian boyfriend at home :-)
5. For those who wanna buy souvenirs, find a place a bit further from touristic places. Magnetic fridge should be cost 1 Eur if you find a right place.
